Book a tour for your school
At the Busselton Cultural Precinct we offer a fun filled opportunity to introduce students to the past and its links to the future. Our tours are suitable for school groups ranging from years 3 to 8 and are curriculum linked to AHASS, STEM and Cross Curricular learning. Your students will uncover local history filled with the hardship of first settlement and its impact on the traditional custodians. The introduction of law and order to the settlement and the logistics of importing goods and the collection of taxes and excise, shipwrecks and rescue.
We offer a range of tours encompassing the Old Courthouse Complex with our courtrooms, bond store, gaol, police station and stable yards. Our education trained guide will escort your groups through the complex telling stories of old and engaging your students in discussion and discovery.
Delve into history in our role play extension re-enacting the initial inquiry to the tragic wreck of The Georgette. Dressed in period costume students play the part of accused and witness – make a verdict and learn what really happened.
The Icons of Busselton walking tour is all a part of this amazing experience. Using a way-finding map and information brochure you will move from the Courthouse complex to the foreshore and beyond. Be introduced to bush tucker, local flora and learn about the first nations Wadandi People. Explore the pioneer cemetery and visit the Ballarat engine.
