Beyond the Familiar

Coming soon! “Beyond the Familiar,” an exhibition featuring selected works from The City of Busselton’s art collection. This exhibition promises to captivate art enthusiasts and the public alike, showcasing the rich cultural and artistic heritage of our region.

Initiated in the 1960s with a generous bequest from Sir Claude Hotchin, the City of Busselton's art collection has grown into a treasure trove. "Beyond the Familiar," highlights seven pieces from this collection that capture the essence of our community’s creativity and spirit.

Among the must-see pieces on display are two exceptional works by the acclaimed West Australian artist John Feeney. Also featured is "I Belong" by Michael Gabriel Francas, the winner of the 2018 City of Busselton Art Award, along with four intriguing works acquired from a local TAFE student art exhibition. These pieces exemplify the City’s unwavering commitment to nurturing and preserving local artistry.

By collecting and showcasing these works, the City of Busselton aims to ignite inspiration and engagement within the community, fostering a profound appreciation for the arts.

“Beyond the Familiar” will be on display at the Bond Store, Old Courthouse Complex on Queen Street for a limited engagement, opening on Thursday, August 8, and concluding on Monday, August 26. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the artistic gems of Busselton. Entry is free.
